The US ambassador to Ireland has announced that they will be co-hosting a conference in Dublin next February to bring together US philanthropists and philanthropic organisations in Ireland to share ideas. The announcement was made by Ambassador Thomas Foley in a letter to the Irish Times.

Personal Telephone Fundraising Limited has increased the capacity of its Brighton-based calling operation to over one million contacts per year.
The growth has been the result both of greater activity for existing clients and new business wins. The telephone fundraising company has won five new clients in recent months, including Scope and Book Aid International.

Nominations are now open for membership of the Institute Scotland's Executive Committee.
The committee's responsibility is to take an overview of each of the sub-committees, namely Income Generation, Membership and Marketing, Professional Development, and Public Affairs, together with the Conference Co-ordination Group. It is also responsible for the group's finances.

Amnesty International UK has launched its winter 2007 raffle offering five prizes worth £5,500. The top prize is £3000.
Members over 16 have been sent books of 24 raffle tickets to sell at £1 each. Anyone who sells £24 worth of tickets or more is entered into a special extra draw the chance of winning a further £500 lump sum. The draw will be made on 7 December.

Midas Charity Appeals Service is running two training courses next month offering a chance to meet 11 funders, ranging from those giving £80,000 to over £50 million a year. One event will be Midas' first on Social Enterprise and includes a cabinet office speaker.

The consultation for a statement of 'General Principles for Fundraising' in Ireland will be completed next month. The work is being led by the Irish Charities Tax Reform Group and will be presented as part of the final report to the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs at the end of the year.
