St Stephen’s Green Trust to open grants round in January

Howard Lake | 15 December 2015 | News

St Stephen’s Green Trust (SSGT) has announced that its 2016 grant round will open in January.

The details of what St Stephen’s Green Trust will fund in 2016 are not available but in 2015 there was a focus on prisoners/ex prisoners, travellers and homelessness. There was also a small grant scheme for children of asylum-seeking families living in Direct Provision Centres. This is in line with the Trust’s strategy plan up to 2018.

The Trust says it is open to considering applications for multi-annual funding (up to 3 years) subject to satisfactory progress reports and availability of funds.

Maximum grants from SSGT will be in the region of €15,000 per annum. Multiannual funding general allocates a lesser amount in Years 2 and 3. Organisations applying to SSGT have to be voluntary or community organisations with a CHY or XR number and have a turnover of less than €500,000.

Charities based in Northern Ireland are also eligible to apply. The Trust will not consider applications for building costs, general appeals, retrospective funding, overseas work and for individuals.

The Trust was set up in Ireland in 1992 by Porticus, a Dutch Foundation, which operates worldwide. Since 2003, it has had three further sources of funding, all Irish religious orders, which sold property, some of the proceeds being gifted to the Trust to assist it in its mission.

In 2013 SSGT gave out grants of €317,000.
