Record number of awards for employers' payroll giving schemes

This year 3,347 Payroll Giving Quality Mark Award certificates have been distributed by the Institute of Fundraising to recognise employers’ commitment to payroll giving. According to the Institute, this is a record number of certificates, an increase of over 1,200 on last year’s total.
Quality Mark Awards are available in bronze, silver and gold versions. Any organisation that has achieved any of these is to eligible to enter the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards. The deadline for entries is 16 July.
Lee Grant, Tax-Effective Giving Project Manager at the Institute of Fundraising, urged employers to enter the awards. He added: “Payroll Giving really is showing its strength in this recent period of economic uncertainty. We are delighted that so many employers have taken part in Payroll Giving and achieved the high standards demanded of the Quality Mark.”
The Institute also reported that during 2008/09 employers had added over £13 million to their employees’ contributions.
