Venturesome’s John Kingston awarded OBE in New Year’s Honours
John Kingston, Founder Director of Venturesome, the Charities Aid Foundation‘s social investment arm, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the Voluntary Sector in the New Year’s Honours list.
Launched in 2002, Venturesome provides bridging finance and development capital to charities and social enterprises. It has committed more than £12.5 million to over 200 organisations so far.
Kingston has played a leading role in helping to create and develop a social investment market in the UK. A Co-Founder of the Social Investment Market Group and currently Chair of the Nationwide Foundation, he was Chair of the Institute of Fundraising from 2000 to 2003.

On the announcement of the award, Kingston said: “It really is a great privilege to be honoured for work that I love doing and wish to acknowledge the many committed people I’ve been lucky enough to work with over the years.”
