New £5 coin from The Royal Mint

Howard Lake | 1 November 2008 | News

Five pound Prince of Wales coin, minted in 2008

The Royal Mint has issued a new £5 coin in honour of the 60th birthday of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. The limited edition commemorative crown features a portrait of Prince Charles on the reverse and the Queen’s effigy on the obverse.
The coin is available in gold and silver versions. Only 1,500 of the former will be available and 500,000 of the latter.
They are legal tender, although are collectors’ items so unlikely to find their way into a charity’s collecting tin.
