Survey finds lawyers and accountants raise most at Flora London Marathon
Lawyers and academics are the best professions to target in seeking successful London Marathon runners, according to research by sick children’s charity, WellChild. But steer clear of accountants: they were among the least successful
fundraisers.
WellChild, last year’s Official Charity of the Flora London Marathon, surveyed over 800 runners who raised money for
the charity.
Lawyers and academics raised an average of £2,500 each, with bankers raising an average of £2,300. Company managers raised on average £200 per person more than company directors who tied with housewives.
The professions ranked as follows in terms of the most money raised for WellChild last year:
1) Lawyers/Academics & Students
2) Bankers
3) Company Managers
4) Emergency Services & Armed Forces personnel / Administrative & Secretarial Staff / Fitness Staff
5) IT Consultants
6) Company Directors / Housewives
7) Accountants / Teachers
8) Health and Social Care Professionals
WellChild runners last year raised £1 million in the Marathon.
