Five projects across UK to benefit from Abbey funding

Abbey has announced £150,000 of charitable funding for affordable credit projects across the UK.
Projects supported by the funding include an initiative by Train 2000, a community development finance institution (CDFI), targeting financially excluded women thinking of starting up a small business. The Abbey funding will facilitate the provision of loans under £1000 for the first time as well as fund support services for the participants. The project is being run in conjunction with Speke Advice Service and Riverside Credit Union.
Funding will also support a scheme led by Places for People, one of the UK’s largest property management and development groups, in conjunction with Milton Keynes Council and Midsummer Housing. The scheme will use the Abbey funding to provide affordable credit to users of their Haste Project which supports people with drug and alcohol problems by providing temporary accommodation and supporting them into secure tenancies.
