Win a year's free use of Lees Lloyd Whitley's Charity Law helpline

Howard Lake | 25 July 2007 | News

Following the recent and forthcoming changes in charity law following the introduction in November 2006 of the Charities Act, law firm Lees Lloyd Whitley have launched a new Charity Law Helpline. To celebrate the launch of the scheme, the firm has teamed up with UK Fundraising to offer one charity a year’s free access to helpline, a prize worth £1,000.

Last year’s Charities Act has major implications for charities, including the introduction of a statutory list of charitable purposes, the formation of a new independent charity tribunal, the creation of a new legal form for incorporated charities (the ‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’), and new regulations affecting public charitable collections.

The helpline is free to join and enables clients operating in the charity and not-for-profit sector to telephone a range of Lees Lloyd Whitley experts in order to obtain advice and assistance on any issue that they may have.

Fees are only incurred when you actually take advice from the solicitors, so the cost of the scheme will depend on how often an organisation uses the helpline, subject to an annual cap.

In addition to specialist advice from Lees Lloyd Whitley’s Charity Law experts, charities and not-for-profit organisations will have access to advice from the firm’s Commercial Property team which has particular expertise acting for charities, housing associations and registered social landlords, and from the firm’s specialist Employment Law team, which operates its own HR helpline.

Lees Lloyd Whitley will ensure that legal fees do not exceed a maximum figure of £1,000 plus VAT per annum, irrespective of how often an organisation needs to use the Charity Law Helpline.
