British fundraisers to share skills with Indian counterparts

Ten fundraisers from Indian NGOs will be coming to Britain in April for a week-long skill-share experience facilitated by the Resource Alliance.
The 10 – final candidates still to be confirmed – will be part-funded by the Ford Foundation in an innovative project. Each candidate or their organisation has also been asked to contribute US$1,000 towards the cost of the week.
The group will spend half a day with a number of British charities and agencies, including Sue Ryder Care, Brakeley, ActionAid UK, Whitewater, Cascaid and Help the Hospices. Each UK organisation has been asked to offer the group a look at a particular fundraising discipline, then give the Indian visitors the chance to meet their fundraisers or teams to talk through what they do, learn processes and procedures.

The fundraisers will be here for the London Marathon, and the Resource Alliance hopes to arrange for them to help out on the day to give them a hands-on experience of what goes on behind the scenes.
Fundraisers will be asked to provide their feedback on the tour and to give their evaluation of the experience. The Resource Alliance hopes that this will just be the first of such projects to share skills with fundraisers in the developing world.
