Kidscan invites applications for £200k childhood cancer research fund

Children’s cancer charity Kidscan has announced a £200,000 fund for research into new treatments for childhood cancers, and it is inviting funding applications from scientists.
The Salford-based charity is offering ‘pump priming’ awards of up to £10,000 over a 12 month period. The fund is the product of of the charity’s most successful year of fundraising to date.
Dr David Pye, Scientific Director at Kidscan, explains:
“We are in the fortunate position that thanks to our fantastic fundraisers and supporters, we have raised more money in the last 12 months than in any other year – and we’re funnelling it straight into research into new treatments for childhood cancers. This is a great opportunity to really make a difference to the future of childhood cancer treatment.”
The funding was announced on the anniversary of the charity’s creation Kidscan was founded on 2 December 2002 by Professor Alan McGown who had identified that there was no research institute that specifically supported children’s cancer.
The application form can be downloaded from Kidscan. There is no deadline for applications.
