The Body Shop Foundation to close in early 2017

Melanie May | 30 November 2016 | News

The Body Shop Foundation is to close early next year due to differences between it and the management of The Body Shop, the Foundation has said.
In an announcement on its website, the trustees and staff said that while the charity has been primarily funded by The Body Shop International until this point, conversations with the current management of The Body Shop had not resulted in a shared vision for the independent future of the Foundation.
The statement says:

“Despite our history and impact our lengthy conversations with the current management of The Body Shop have not resulted in a shared vision for the independent future of the Foundation. A committed funding stream has not been agreed, nor has a fundraising product been put in place for us in 2017.”

As such, the Foundation has concluded that it is no longer sustainable as an independent organisation.
The Body Shop Foundation was founded by Dame Anita and Gordon Roddick, and over the course of its 27 years, has donated and invested more than £24m.
