Last chance to apply for Mayor of London’s crowdfunding programme

Melanie May | 22 April 2016 | News

London projects that help bring a local place to life have until 2nd May to apply for the Mayor of London’s crowdfunding programme, which could net them a pledge of up to £20k.
The criteria for entry state that projects must be innovative and distinctive, make the local area special and build on local character, bring an economic and social benefit to the community, and have strong local support, shown via a crowdfunding campaign. They must also be in Greater London, and be managed by an organisation representing a local community.
Current projects crowdfunding through the programme include the Catford Film Festival, the Hackney Cup for Health, and the Islington Gro-Mobile.

Organisations must upload their project idea to Spacehive for verification and send supporting documents to the Greater London Authority by 2nd May.
Once a project is accepted, organisers can create a crowdfunding project page on Spacehive and starting fundraising. The Mayor will only pledge up to £20,000, and 75% of the total project value, and projects must hit their crowdfunding target to secure the money pledged.
More information about the programme and how to apply is available on the Spacehive site.
