Support Adoption for Pets’ Christmas appeal beats record

The UK’s largest grant giving animal charity Support Adoption for Pets raised more than £770,000 in its Santa Paws Christmas appeal.
The annual campaign ran from 1st to 24th December and provided more than 1.5 million animals with a Christmas dinner.
It was supported nationally by Pets at Home. Aiming to raise awareness of homeless animals as well as provide shelters with financial support, it asked pet owners and animal lovers to donate 50p for a pet’s Christmas dinner.
Customers in Pets at Home stores also had the option of buying an extra toy or treat while shopping, which was donated to local animal rescue centres.
Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets said:
“This year’s Santa Paws appeal raised more than we could ever have imagined, raising over 1.5 million dinners. The money raised will enable these fantastic charities to continue the valuable work they do in the area in finding homes for pets.”
Since 2006, Support Adoption for Pets has helped over nine hundred animal charities across the UK and Northern Ireland. Its Charity Partnership Scheme teams animal shelters with local Pets at Home stores, enabling shelters to raise awareness and funds locally, receive donations from customers as well as a store discount, and advertise animals that need rehoming in-store.
