Time lapse video shows homeless veteran’s transformation

Slow motion and time lapse videos are becoming more common on YouTube as mobile phone apps start to offer these functions. These styles can be used to powerful effect to show a charity’s impact, the before and after of its work.
A good example of that is this video from Degage Ministries showing the physical transformation of homeless veteran Jim Wolf. It is simply a time lapse video of a man being given his first haircut, shave and clean pair of clothes in a long time.

But it is indicative of the support being given to this man by the nonprofit. The hugs from those helping transform Jim show that this is no simple makeover video.
According to Degage Ministries he has, like many other veterans, faced poverty and alcoholism after leaving the military. The nonprofit accepts that this is a ‘makeover video’ and that Jim’s path to recovery will not be straightforward or simple.
“But it could be the start of something, and we’re working hard to help walk him down this new path.”
The video has struck a chord: it has now been viewed over 13 million times.
