Internet fundraising? Nil points

Internet fundraising is clearly not worthy of accolades from ICFM and Professional Fundraising magazine. The joint sponsors of the ICFM Professional Fundraising Awards, which were launched in 1993, offer awards for a range of fundraising activities and categories. You can, for example, win an award for most effective use of the telephone. However, you can not win an award specifically for using the Internet.
This month’s Professional Fundraising magazine features the 1998 Awards. Ironically, the feature appears on its Internet news page (Professional Fundraising, March 1998, p.6). Is that as close as the Awards and Internet fundraising will come? UK Fundraising awaits the 1999 Awards with interest.
