London Marathon inspires women to run for Cancer Research UK

Howard Lake | 17 April 2005 | News

In the last 48 hours, the efforts of those who took part in the Flora London Marathon have inspired thousands of women including Paula Radcliffe to sign up for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, supported by Tesco.

In the past two days a record 30,000 women have joined up for the women-only fundraising walks or runs. According to Cancer Research UK, many of them have taken inspiration from the achievements of the Marathon runners.

Jo Symington, Head of Race for Life, says: “This year’s Marathon has really inspired people to take action and do something to raise money for charity. We’ve been inundated by women wanting to join a Race for Life event since Sunday and are completely overwhelmed by the public’s response.
