Pupils at Catholic schools banned from fundraising for Comic Relief

Howard Lake | 7 March 2005 | News

BBC News reports that hundreds of pupils at several Catholic schools in south Wales will not be allowed to fundraise for Comic Relief on Friday’s Red Nose Day.

The decision by St Joseph’s in Port Talbot, Bishop Vaughan in Swansea, and St John Lloyd in Llanelli is based on their belief that some of the money raised by Comic Relief in the past has been used to fund abortions in Africa.

Comic Relief, however, says that it has never funded or promoted abortion services.
