Queen recognises 110 voluntary groups with awards

More than 100 volunteering groups across the UK have been chosen as winners of this year’s Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
All winners have been nominated by members of the public who have either benefited from their work, or seen the positive effect on their community. The Award is only given to those groups where volunteers are judged to have regularly devoted their time to providing an outstanding level of help to other people.
The annual Award was originally called the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service, created in April 2002 to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Nomination forms for the 2005 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service are already available and should be returned by 30 September 2004. Groups rather than individuals must be nominated for the Award, and self-nomination is not permitted.
