Yahoo! focuses donated ad space on five charitable issues

Yahoo! is donating advertising space to five areas of non-profit activity, starting with organisations that promote racial tolerance. The other four issues that will receive free advertising are the environment, equal access to technology, disaster relief and AIDS.

Yahoo! is donating advertising space to five areas of non-profit activity, starting with organisations that promote racial tolerance. The other four issues that will receive free advertising are the environment, equal access to technology, disaster relief and AIDS.

The advertising includes keyword sponsorship. For example, an anti-racist advert could appear in response to a search with the word “Nazi.”

Yahoo! has been donating ad space to non-profits for several years, and runs public service announcements from the non-profit Advertising Council. The new move represents a desire to focus on areas that matter “to Yahoo employees and users,” according to Yahoo!
