Amazon in IRA splinter group affiliate problem

Amazon.co.uk’s affiliate programme has led them to being “accused of funding a splinter group of the IRA”, reports Internet magazine.

Internet magazine reports that “Amazon has been accused of funding a splinter group of the IRA – known as the 32 County Sovereignty Movement.”

The accusation arose after the Movement featured a link to Amazon at the bottom of its home page. Such links are common given the success of Amazon’s affiliate programme, which encourages individuals and organisations to encourage book sales in return for a commission.

Amazon’s experience demonstrates how important it is, particularly for charities, to attempt to know which sites are linking to theirs.
