Ukraine response teams & Resilient Nutrition

Disaster response teams in Ukraine, including charities such as Operation Orphan (pictured), are to be given emergency Special Forces rations to sustain them while rescuing war victims. The teams will receive half a million specially designed packs for them and the people they are rescuing to ensure they have a secure and safe source of nutrition while carrying out lifesaving work. The rations, which have been developed by sustainable performance nutrition experts Resilient Nutrition, are the based on those used by Special Forces and the Royal Marines, as well as record-breaking adventurers during expeditions to Mount Everest and K2.

Asthma + Lung UK & Thales in the UK

Asthma + Lung UK has been announced as Charity of the Year by Thales in the UK, winning a partnership worth £200,000 over two years. The charity, formerly known as Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation, competed against charities including The Prince’s Trust, Macmillan and the British Heart Foundation to win the bid. The partnership is in two parts – a donation from Thales of between £20,000 and £30,000 a year, and fundraising from staff who will be able to take part in activities including quizzes, sponsored cycling events and steps challenges. One of the corporate partnership’s key aims is to fund 4,500 hours of vital research into lung health and disease. Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation announced their rebrand as Asthma + Lung UK last month.

Royal Marsden Cancer Charity & M&S

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is joining forces with M&S this spring, in a new charity partnership that will raise funds to help build the new Oak Cancer Centre, which is currently under construction at The Royal Marsden in Sutton. The new Centre will bring over 400 researchers, 350 clinical staff and thousands of patients together under one roof. Inspired by the Oak Cancer Centre appeal’s, ‘building hope, brick by brick’ messaging, M&S has created a sun-flowering brick product. This brick will be sold online from Wednesday 9 March, as part of a bundle together with a colourful bunch of British spring tulips. M&S will donate £5 from the sale of each bundle to help build the Oak Cancer Centre to help the charity move closer to its £70m fundraising target and make the Centre a reality.
