Inspiration from four fantastic legacy legends – part three

Howard Lake | 2 September 2016 | Blogs

After Hugh’s abseiling feats from week one and Briony’s mountain hike from last week’s blog, we are counting down to this year’s Remember A Charity in your Will Week by sharing inspiration from four impressive legacy legends from recent years.

Meet the fundraising team at Cystic Fibrosis Trust

To mark Remember a Charity Week in 2015, legacy and in-memory manager at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust Michael Clark and two colleagues undertook a 12-mile sponsored walk.
This wasn’t your average stroll – the team walked in fancy dress from the charity’s former office in Bromley to its new quarters in central London. Instead of relaxing with a well-deserved cup of tea upon arrival, the three executed their new wills, which included a gift to the charity.
Their amusing social media posts along the route not only helped raise awareness of legacies and create a real buzz among the public, but also resulted in an increase in legacy enquiries. A brilliant result which shows it pays to be brave and bring a little humour to the legacy conversation.
Of course, Cystic Fibrosis Trust isn’t alone. Around 170 charities are planning fantastic ways to get their own legacy conversations started during Remember A Charity Week.

What’s the week all about?

This year’s Remember A Charity Week will call on the British public to pass on something legendary, tweeting their advice for future generations at #MyWisdom and
remembering a charity in their Will. Charities, Government, solicitors and Will-writers will all come together to encourage the public to leave a gift to charity in their Will.
