Heritage Lottery Fund extends Northern Ireland fundraising programme

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in Northern Ireland has extended the funding of ‘Investing in Northern Ireland’s Heritage’ fundraising programme for another two years.
In 2014 HLF awarded Northern Ireland Environment Link (NIEL) £246,000 under its Catalyst Umbrella Programme to design and deliver a two year fundraising capacity building and training programme bespoke for the “heritage sector” in Northern Ireland.
HLF said the programme would deliver fundraising training and support for 1,000 individuals and 50 organisations in the sector across accredited and vocational training, complementary peer and mentoring and continuous professional development, and the establishment of a distance learning resource facility.
The programme has been designed to develop and enhance organisational and individual skills, knowledge and experience in new funding source identification and new fundraising techniques. Accreditation is also delivered in conjunction with the Institute of Fundraising.
The programme in Northern Ireland is led by Murdo Murray under the guidance of NIEL. The new funding for the Heritage programme will run until the Spring of 2018.
