Small charities raise £28k with eBay for Charity during Small Charity Week 2015

In a one week campaign £28,000 was raised in June for small charities across the country as a result of the partnership between The Foundation for Social Improvement (the charity behind Small Charity Week) and PayPal Giving Fund.
Through the partnership, small charities were offered the opportunity to have a fundraising message featured on the checkout area of eBay. Over a hundred charities entered the competition with the five winners raising £15,700.
In addition, the Small Charity Week eBay Auction raised over £12,000 for 31 small charities be selling items online. The auction was supported by PayPal Giving Fund, which matched funding for the two highest selling items.
Tamsyn Wymer, Events Coordinator at African Children’s Fund, said:

“We have participated in the Small Charity Week auction since its inception in 2012 and have found it to be an excellent way for African Children’s Fund – as a small charity – to raise our profile, not to mention raising funds for the projects we support. In fact, it has now become a focal point in our fundraising calendar! All funds raised through the auction will support our programmes in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe where we give 3,000 children hope for a better future.”

“We are delighted to have been part of the FSI’s Small Charity Week again. This year’s eBay auction was a great success and shows how any charity, large or small, can reach a wider audience online. We hope that the auction and eBay checkout competition will boost awareness of the charities involved, and encourage more small charities to use eBay for Charity in the future”.
