SPAR sandwiches raise £200k for ChildLine

Howard Lake | 2 October 2014 | News

Sales of a range of seven different sandwiches at SPAR stores across the North of England have raised £200,000 for the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service.
The campaign started in 2011, and this week the four millionth sandwich was sold. For every sandwich sold, SPAR donated 5p.
The most popular sandwich was the SPAR Chicken Salad. Sales of that alone raised £37,187.75.
The sandwiches are made by staff at James Hall & Co factories in Blackpool and Preston. The company is the SPAR distributor for the North of England and supplies over 540 stores across the region.

SPAR sandwich raises funds for NSPCC's ChildLine

SPAR Chicken Salad was the most popular fundraising sandwich.

Maribeth Lloyds, NSPCC corporate partnerships fundraising manager, said:

“James Hall & Co and SPAR have been fantastic supporters of the NSPCC and ChildLine for a number of years. It’s great to see them reach such a huge milestone with their sandwich sales. Many customers won’t realise that their lunch is helping to support children but the 5ps have certainly mounted up and will really help us keep children safe from harm, giving them a brighter, happier future.”

SPAR has been working in partnership with the NSPCC and ChildLine since 2006 and has raised over £4 million to support the charity.
