Grants to empower older people now available in Ireland

Howard Lake | 13 June 2014 | News

Grants of up to €7500 are available in Ireland to help older people become more active citizens and make themselves heard at local and national level.
The Community Foundation for Ireland Older Person’s Fund will provide funding for year-long projects focused in two areas:

For inclusion projects the Fund says it will support “innovative, replicable and effective local community interventions’. Users/beneficiaries must be involved or have been consulted in project planning and applicants must be prepared to evaluate and learn from their work as well as share project learning and outcomes.
The second strand of the funding for advocacy work with older people can include training to influence policy, developing community decision-making processes, building leadership or negotiation skills and other innovative projects to give greater “voice” to older people.
The deadline for applications is 25 July 2014, with successful applicants informed in October. Applicants should have annual revenue of not more than €1 million.
