Career Volunteer to boost skilled trustees from all sectors, including charities
David Lale, founder of recruitment specialists Charity People, will next month launch Career Volunteer, an initiative to attract more skilled staff from across all sectors to act as trustees at charities and social enterprises.
He aims to attract expert volunteers and trustees with a wide range of skills, including business and fundraising, to support existing charity boards
In addition, he hopes that charities should enable their staff to volunteer at other charities as trustees. He accept that this might sound counter-intuitive. But, he told UK Fundraising:
“Research shows that any company or charity that encourages its staff to volunteer through a structured employee engagement programme is highly thought of by the staff team. So maybe you should also be talking to your own charity to see what kind of support is there for staff wanting to volunteer their time and skills.”

“Getting more fundraising trustees on board with relevant expertise and insight is a great way to show other sectors how collaboration will always beat competition”.
