The Katharine Howard Foundation (KHF) in collaboration with the Community Foundation for Ireland (CFI) has opened a new three year programme which will support parenting.

The Parenting Support Initiative (2013-2016) will support a number of projects in socio-economically disadvantaged areas or specific socially disadvantaged (target) groups engaged in collaborative approaches to working with parents of children from birth to 3 years.

The Parenting Support Initiative will particularly welcome applications from projects that promote and support parents in their parental role, improve outcomes (health, well being and learning) for their young children (from birth to 3 years) and work in a collaborative and integrated way.

KHF says it will also seek to identify and learn from community based parent support programmes and projects that encourage creative and innovative ways of supporting parents of young children. It will promote and build on good practice using evidence-based and/or evidence informed approaches.

Grants from €2,000 to €20,000 are available for the first year depending on specific project proposals. Further information and grant guidelines can be found on this website. The first stage of the application process involves an Expression of Interest form, which must be completed and returned to KHF by 18 October 2013.

The Katharine Howard Foundation is an independent foundation focused on improving the lives of young children and their families. All of the foundation’s work is aimed at overcoming disadvantage and to promoting equality of opportunity for all children.
