Validatrix plugin for The Raiser’s Edge to validate data in real-time
Zeidman Developement has created Validatrix, a plugin for users of The Raiser's Edge that will enable them to validate data in real-time.
The plugin will let fundraisers control and manage data entry standards by setting up rules in any fields, and in as many as they wish. In this way, all data being added or amended in the database will be checked to ensure it meets the charity's business processes.

What rules can you create?
Zeidman say that RE users can create simple or complex rules, according to their needs. Some simple examples include:
-
Validate email addresses in the correct format
- The first letter of the first name and the surname must be in upper case
They can also get a little more advanced such as:
-
If a spouse is added or removed, change the marital status and the salutation
-
If a gift is over one week old, an action must be added
- A gift over a certain amount should contain specific constituent and solicit codes
But Validatrix can be used at more advanced levels still. To help guide users in its application, Zeidman have created a number of resources. For example, users can test their rules and how they work in practice with a built-in rule flowchart. They can also import and export tools to share their rules with other organisations.
Validatrix is now a standard part of Zeidman Development's Audit Trail Professional application, so current users will be able to use it straight away as part of their maintenance contract.
A trial version of Validatrix available for download, which can be used with the Blackbaud sample database.
