Arts Council England has made a grant to The Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Consortium to deliver a programme of training, coaching and capacity building to help transform arts fundraising.

The aim is to develop more professional approaches to arts sector fundraising across England by more organisations. The programme is also designed to improve perceptions of the arts as a charitable cause among potential and existing donors.

It will be aimed primarily at Arts Council England’s National portfolio organisations but also relevance to the whole of the arts sector.

The Consortium members include Association of British Orchestras, Dance UK, the Philanthropy Association, the Arts Marketing Association and Barbican Centre East London and City Culture Hub in partnership with Cause 4.

The grant for the Transforming arts fundraising programme is part of the wider £100 million Catalyst scheme. Other strands to the Catalyst scheme, now closed for applications, include endowments, capacity building and match funding and building fundraising capacity.

Details of how arts organisations can get involved in the programme will be announced by Arts Council England in the coming months.
