Lendwithcare promotes gift vouchers for Christmas

Care International's microloans initiative lendwithcare is again promoting gift vouchers for Christmas presents.

The charity is distinguishing them from other charity voucher schemes "because they keep on giving, year-in and year-out". After investing in one entrepreneur in the developing world, when they money is repaid, they can go on to reinvest the same loan in someone else.

Vouchers are available in email and printed formats, and in values from £15 upwards. There are four different designs to choose from.

The recipient of the voucher then gets to choose whom to lend to, based on their country, type of business or gender.

Lendwithcare was launched just over two years ago and gift vouchers have been available to buy since then. However, Care has found that they are a particularly popular gift to give around Christmas time in that they appeal to those wanting to give alternative or ethical gifts at Christmas.

Its first Christmas gift voucher campaign in 2011 sold over 1,500 vouchers worth over £38,000 in loan capital. So far this year the charity has generated nearly £10,000 in gift voucher sales.
