Head of National Community Participation at Save the Children UK, Terence Lovell said that the aim is to turn this into "Save the Children’s flagship, annual fundraising initiative".
Celebrity supporters of the initiative include Ashley Jensen, Jon Snow, Myleene Klass and Lauren Laverne. Corporate partners include Morrisons, Mothercare, Arsenal Football Club, John Lewis, and Westfield.
The initiative is being promoted by print advertising, PR and digital activity.
We Won't Rest TV advert
Save the Children is also running a Christmas TV advertising campaign. The advert, created by adam&eveddb, carries the call to action ‘We Won’t Rest’. The charity's message is that even as the Christmas festivities commence, it will not rest, or stop in its efforts to put an end to child poverty, hunger and disease.
Christmas bauble
Save the Children has also launched a new retail product for 2012. The Christmas bauble can be found in branches of Lloyds bank, Mothercare, Early Learning Centre, Save the Children shops and London Westfield shopping centre. It is available in the shape of a snowman or snowflake. For a £1 donation, the baubles can be decorated and hung on a tree, or sent to a friend or family member in the envelope provided.
2012 Wishlist
The charity is also promoting its alternative Christmas gifts catalogue, the 2012 Wishlist. This year’s virtual giving products range from baby scales and care bundles, to food baskets and grow bundles.
