Sally de la Bedoyere today begins work as Chief Executive at the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association, the self-regulatory membership organisation for face-to-face fundraising (F2F).
She joins from the RSPCA, where she has been director of income generation for the past two years.
She has spent 25 years in media management, including six years as chief executive of RAJAR, the independent radio ratings body owned jointly by the BBC and commercial radio. Before that she was managing director of the Evening Standard, London’s daily newspaper.
De la Bedoyere recognises that she is joining the PFRA at a challenging time. “By recommending in his review of the Charities Act 2006 that local authorities should work with the PFRA to voluntarily co-regulate street fundraising, Lord Hodgson has signalled that there is intensive and challenging work ahead for the PFRA,” she said.
She added: “Co-operation with local authorities and other sector bodies such as the Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Standards Board is key to making Lord Hodgson’s recommendations work, ensuring not only that members of the public have a better idea about how self-regulation operates, but that charities can continue to use F2F in the most effective and sustainable way to deliver the income they need to provide services for their beneficiaries.”
