Legacy Trust UK gives £1m to seven organisations

Legacy Trust UK has announced the seven applicants that will share £1 million from its 2013 Funding scheme.
Set up in 2007, the Trust aims to create a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from London 2012 in communities across the UK. It was funded by a £40 million endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, Department for Culture Media and Sport and Arts Council England.
A principal funder of the Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival, it has already funded over 100 projects across the country.
Major awards will be given to:
• Abandon Normal Devices (AND) Festival in the North West region
• imove in Yorkshire and Humberside
• Accentuate in the South East
• RELAYS (Regional Educational Legacy in Arts and Youth Sports) in the South West
• CREATE in east London
Smaller awards will be given to the Tate Movie Project and Norfolk and Norwich Festival in the East of England.
Moira Swinbank OBE, CEO of Legacy Trust UK said: “Since 2007 our funding has enabled people across the UK to engage in cultural activity in their communities and on their own terms. The additional funding that we have awarded to these projects will help them continue to deliver high quality activities and events that will ensure sustainability and legacy for the future.”
