Congratulations to charity winners of Mashable Awards 2011

Digital culture and technology news site Mashable has announced the winners of its 5th annual Mashable Awards and as usual there are several nonprofit organisations and campaigns amongst them.
This year there were three:
* Must-Follow Non-Profit on Social Media: The Trevor Project – the US nonprofit that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.
* Viral Campaign of the Year: NOH8 Campaign – the photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in response to the passage in California of Proposition 8 which amended the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
* Best Social Good Cause Campaign: Be A Star – the anti-bullying alliance co-founded by The Creative Coalition and WWE.
So congratulations to them. None of them are UK-based, however, although the awards are open internationally. So, given the number of people that vote, look out for Mashable’s 2012 awards. UK Fundraising will flag them up via our Twitter feed at @howardlake.
