UK IT Industry Awards seek community project entries

Howard Lake | 27 April 2011 | News

The BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, is inviting entries for the community project category in this year’s BCS UK IT Industry Awards.
The award will be given to an outstanding community project completed during the past 12 months that employs technology to bring benefits to a deserving group or the wider community. BCS say that “the project must feature a substantial educational, charitable or socially responsible aspect that goes beyond the core goals of the organisation”.
Last year, the award was won by NYnet & North Yorkshire County Council for their Community Broadband Project.
The annual BCS UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the IT profession to showcase and celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.
Entries for all the categories are welcomed from private sector businesses, public sector bodies, informal groups, charities and NGOs. Collaborations between multiple organisations are also welcome and may be entered as a single unit.
Entry is via an online application process and initial judging will take place in August. The winners will be announced at a gala evening event at the Battersea Park Events Arena, London on 10 November.
