Children's cancer charity to benefit from UK's leading art, antiques and contemporary design fair
Masterpiece London, which showcases the very best in fine and decorative arts and contemporary design, has selected CLIC Sargent, the leading cancer charity for children and young people, as its charity of the year for 2011.
The fair will raise vital funds to help CLIC Sargent support children and young people with cancer across the UK, by hosting an exclusive charity party on the evening of Thursday 30 June. The ‘Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent’ will be an evening that combines fine art and entertainment, and guests will have a number of opportunities to support the charity through a special raffle, pledges and bidding for ‘money can’t buy’ items.
CLIC Sargent Patron, and Chair of the organising committee, Lady Helen Taylor commented: “Masterpiece London was a resounding success when it launched in 2010, so we’re thrilled it has selected CLIC Sargent as the beneficiary of its charity party this year. With the support and generosity of guests at the event, we hope to raise a significant amount of money so CLIC Sargent can make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer.”
The Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent aims to raise more than £300,000 to fund CLIC Sargent’s work across the UK. It costs the charity around £3,750 to support each child or young person through treatment, but lack of funds means that CLIC Sargent can currently only help two out of three children and young people in need.
Nicola Winwood, Fair Director said: “Masterpiece London is delighted to be supporting CLIC Sargent, our charity in 2011. The Fair’s high profile and premium offering will provide the perfect backdrop to The Masterpiece Midsummer Party making it an unforgettable fundraising evening. The work CLIC Sargent does to be there every step of the way for children and young people with cancer is second to none and we’re pleased to be able to help raise vital funds for this very worthwhile cause.
Masterpiece London 2011 takes place from 30 June – 5 July, with a Preview on 29 June, on the South Grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The fair, which attracted over 18,000 visitors in 2010, provides a premium cultural experience for London residents, and UK and international visitors on a scale that no other art, antiques and contemporary design fair does.
