The McLeans are coming
The McLean clan has truly arrived in the fundraising sector. Indeed, we now have A McLeans at the head of two of the fundraising sector’s principal bodies.
Alistair McLean is chief executive of the Fundraising Standards Board, and Amanda McLean is the new chief executive of the Institute of Fundraising. No, they aren’t related.
The surname means “servant of St John”. A quick check of St John’s patronage sadly doesn’t reveal any fundraisers under his protection. Instead, he is the patron saint of tailors, printers, motorways, farriers and lambs. Perhaps of more use in the world of fundraising is the fact that he is patron against convulsions, spasms and hailstorms.
