The Big Lottery Fund has granted £842,707 to NCVO for its Sustainable Funding Project, which provides support and advice to voluntary and community organisations across England, helping them to become more financially sustainable.
The funding is spread over three years and will enable NCVO to continue case study work on income generation, monthly newsletters, workshops, and other training events.
The Big Lottery Fund has made a grant to the Sustainable Funding Project before. In 2006 it gave a grant of £750,000 over three years from its BASIS programme.
Leesa Herbert, NCVO Head of Sustainable Funding, said: “NCVO is delighted to have the opportunity to continue our work supporting organisations across the sector to develop and implement a sustainable income strategy. As the impact of the recession bites and cuts in public spending emerge, the skills and experience developed by the Sustainable Funding Team over the past ten years will be needed more than ever.”
Sanjay Dighe, Chair of the Big Lottery Fund England Committee, said: “In the present climate it is imperative that VCS organisations have a real focus on financial sustainability to allow them to deliver and maintain their crucial work within their communities. This funding allows a long-standing, national project to further develop its vital support, helping front-line organisations understand and access the wide-range of funding options available, leaving them better equipped for years to come.”
