Two appointments made to payroll giving awards panel

Jane Banks, Payroll Giving Manager at British Heart Foundation, and Karen Thomson, Associate Director of Policy, Research and Strategic Visibility at the Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) have been appointed to the judging panel of the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards.
The deadline for entries to this year’s National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards is 16 July, and the awards will be announced on 5 October.
Entries into the seven Award categories are welcome from all holders of a 2010 Gold, Silver or Bronze Quality Mark Award.
Jane Banks has worked in the charity sector for over 20 years starting. In 1995 she joined the Charities Aid Foundation (‘CAF’), developing Payroll Giving campaigns within the FTSE350, devising and launching Payroll Giving training for charities, before heading up the Corporate Services Team at CAF.
She has helped develop Payroll Giving services in CAF network offices such as Bulgaria, India, Russia, and Australia, and successfully lobbied for tax advantages for people donating through their pay in Australia.
Karen Thomson has worked in payroll for more than 15 years. Karen joined the IPP in 2003 and is responsible for ensuring that its members are kept up to date with all payroll-related legislation.
She sits on several government departments’ consultation forums including those for HM Revenue & Customs, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Scottish Parliament. She is also responsible for the IPP conferences and seminars.
