Marks & Spencer have joined online charity shopping site easyfundraising. In an exclusive agreement, M&S will donate 5% of the value of any purchases made on its website via easyfundraising to a charity or good cause of the shopper’s choice.

The high street retailer joins over 2,000 brand-name retailers on easyfundraising, including Amazon, Next, Clarks, Argos, M&S, Boots, eBay, Direct Line, Screwfix, John Lewis, Interflora, Staples, Play.com, Expedia, HMV, and GAME.

Jonathan Scott, Managing Director of easyfundraising, said: “This is a fantastic gesture! We’re really pleased M&S have enabled us to offer this level of donation, which demonstrates what a socially responsible company they are and their ongoing support for the charity sector.

“Asking supporters to give again and again is a struggle at the best of times, and even more so as cash becomes tighter. Easyfundraising allows people to support their favourite charities at no extra cost to themselves. Donations are generated for free when people buy things they would have bought anyway.”

Easyfundraising has raised £1.2 million for charities and good causes in the UK. With M&S’s involvement it is anticipating raising much more in the run up to Christmas.
