The latest Daily Update from The Chronicle of Philanthropy cites a report from Prospecting, “The Chronicle’s fund-raising column”, claiming that “colleges that spend more to conduct donor research raise more money than their counterparts”.

The article reports on a survey (2009 Best Practices in Prospect Research in Higher Education Fundraising) conducted by WealthEngine, which offers online donor-research tools. Apparently the survey was based on responses from 61 educational institutions, mostly colleges and universities.

A free copy of the report is available from http://philanthropy.com, after 15th October, 2009.
