Nominate your organisation for a Social Change Award

Howard Lake | 4 September 2009 | News

The Directory of Social Change is seeking nominations for its Social Change Awards which aim to recognise those working to achieve a positive change in society.

There are four categories:

* Everyday Impact Award – for individuals, small local companies or community groups who have a clear vision for change, and who engage others in bringing about concrete results.

* Influencer Award – for individuals or organisations who can make things happen through campaigning or collaborating effectively.

* Investing in Social Change Award – for not-for-profit organisations, commercial companies or individual donors that have brought about a real difference by thinking hard about how they invest their time, skills or money to achieve social change.

* Public Body Award – for public bodies that have worked effectively with their community to achieve shared social change objectives.

The Directory of Social Change is keen to make these awards stand out from other sector awards. First, you don’t have to be a charity to apply. The awards are open to individuals, charities, community groups, companies, and public bodies.

Secondly, you can nominate yourself as well as others or your own organisation.

Thirdly, “forget linen table cloths and hefty ticket prices” at the awards ceremony, say DSC. Instead, expect “an inclusive, fun and informal event”.

Once nominations close, a judging panel will select a shortlist of three nominees that will be presented to the public to vote for in October.

The Nominations of Others closes on 18 September and the Nominations of Yourself closes 25 September.
