EU funding for Northern Ireland charities on offer

Howard Lake | 22 April 2009 | News

EU funding body Proteus has announced a call for applications for its Small Grants Programme with the aim of enhancing the ability of third sector organisations in Northern Ireland to address identified needs in and of society, and of disadvantaged people within it.
Proteus is inviting applications from all sections of the community in disadvantaged areas, either urban or rural, in Northern Ireland.
Organisations will be expected to identify a stand-alone project, using existing staff resources, which is time-limited (max 18 months) and which they have been unable to undertake because of a shortage of funds.
Projects could be about training or education, awareness-raising or capacity building. Proteus would like to see at the end of funded projects something tangible which has helped provide solutions to be problem described in the application.
Indicative themes Proteus are hoping to support are:
— Awareness- raising educational programmes
— Active Citizenship
— Legacy archive
— Any other innovative proposals which address a social or community need, consistent with our overall aims and objectives.
Applicants will be able to request an electronic Application Form by emailing

am************@pr********.org

or request a hardcopy from PROTEUS (028 9037 1023).
Completed application forms (signed hard copies) will need to be submitted by 12pm, Friday, 15 May 2009 at the latest.
All project activity must end by 31 December 2010.
