Record numbers of Volunteers and Proceeds will Increase the Number of Charities Helped
London, 17 March 2009; iT4Communities (iT4C) has been on sparkling form recently. Firstly the company was the charity beneficiary of the Moulin Rouge themed Intellect Charity Ball. The event, which was held on Tuesday 25 November, raised £13,000 for iT4C.
Following this achievement the company has had a hugely successful start to 2009 with record numbers of volunteers signing up. In January and February iT4C would usually expect to see between 20 and 40 volunteers signing up each week. However, since the start of 2009 the company has seen a huge rise in membership, with 219 signing up in one week alone. This has taken iT4C’s total number of volunteers to 6,000.
iT4C is a national IT volunteering programme linking professional, skilled IT volunteers with charitable organisations in need of IT support. Following the influx of new volunteers iT4C is keen to hear from new charities that require assistance.
2008 represented the eighth year that the Intellect ball has been held and during this time the event has raised in excess of £320,000. Each year different charities are chosen as the beneficiaries, and past recipients have included Barnardo’s, Leukemia Research, NCH, the TreeHouse Trust, ACE Trust and The Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The night included a host of entertainment such as magicians, cancan dancers and sideshows, as well as a tombola and auctions to help raise much needed funds to allow iT4C to continue to its work.
Josh Hoole, iT4C development consultant explains, “The sheer volume of interest in our organisation has been outstanding. With our new volunteers and the money raised by the ball we hope to add more charities to the 2,300 we’ve already helped to improve their IT systems. The work we do enhances the work of charities throughout the UK. We would like to thank Intellect and all our volunteers for their support.”
