Lyndall Stein today takes over as interim chief executive officer of the Resource Alliance, commencing 2nd March 2009.
She takes over from Simon Collings, who is leaving after six years as CEO to join GVEP International as chief operations officer.
Stein will be responsible for the overall management of the organisation, providing leadership to the Resource Alliance staff team and volunteer network. Work is underway to recruit a permanent post-holder so it is expected that Stein will be in post for eight months or so.
Stein has more than 15 years’ experience working at director level for charities and not-for-profit organisations in the UK, most recently setting up Concern UK, where she worked as executive director from 2004 to 2008. Before that she was international marketing director at ActionAid. She was the first fundraising director for the Big Issue Foundation from 1995-1997.
Before that she developed the first individual fundraising programme for the African National Congress in the 1980’s and chaired Votes for Freedom, the initiative that raised several million pounds for South Africa’s first democratic election.
Stein said: “Having personally benefited from the inspiring energy and creativity of the organisation, I am honoured to have an opportunity to contribute to its excellent work”.
Programme and consulting services director Neelam Makhijani has been promoted to the new role of deputy CEO.
