Howard Lake | 10 October 2008 | News

IT consultancy to the not for profit sector, appiChar, is to sponsor the IT volunteering charity iT4Communities to ensure more charitable organisations can benefit from its volunteers who provide professional IT support.
The sponsorship was announced at the Information Technologists’ Livery Company’s New Master’s Installation Supper on 8th October. New Master, Jo Connell, said: “We are very grateful to appiChar for sponsoring iT4Communities at a time when funding has become a key issue. The sponsorship will help iT4Communities grow to find more volunteer IT professionals to support many more charities in the future”.
iT4Communities was set up by the Information Technologists’ Company in 2002 to make IT work for charities by introducing them to volunteer IT professionals. The 5,300 iT4Communities volunteers have so far delivered over £3 million worth of IT support to the voluntary sector.
Ian Ryder, appiChar‘s Managing Director and founder, said: “By becoming a sponsor for iT4Communities it means that we have a chance to help many not for profit organisations receive valuable help that will really make a difference to their organisation”.
