Funding for homeless announced
The Departments of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs are inviting applications from organisations whose primary function is supporting people who are homeless. Up to €1.5 million in total of once off revenue funding is available.
The funding is part of the allocation from the Dormant Accounts Fund and will be administered by Pobal. ‘Supports for homeless people’ is a specific measure under the Social & Economic Disadvantage Category of the 2008 round of Dormant Accounts funding.
This is a targeted and specific measure which is heavily informed by the recent government strategy document, ‘The Way Home: A strategy to address adult homelessness in Ireland 2008-2013’. Pobal is advising organisations to attend an information session at the Clarion Hotel, Dublin Airport on Wednesday 22nd October. For registration people should phone Marian on (01) 5117209 or email mc******@po***.ie.
Completed applications should be posted to: Pobal, Dormant Accounts Fund, Holbrook House, Holles Street, Dublin 2. The closing date for applications is Friday 28th November 2008 at 5pm.
