Andrew Hind, the Chief Executive of the Charity Commission, has been presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Charity Awards 2008 held last night in London.
The award recognises Hind’s long-standing commitment and service to the voluntary sector, dating back to his time at ActionAid in the 1980’s. Andrew has been Chief Executive of the Charity Commission since October 2004 and has been reappointed for a further two years until October 2010.
He was a co-founder of the Charity Finance Directors’ Group in 1988 and its second chair from 1992-94.
Previous winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award include Sir Roger Singleton, and Baroness Jill Pitkeathley.
The winners were announced at the gala presentation dinner, hosted by comedian and broadcaster Marcus Brigstocke, at Battersea Evolution.
The Charity Awards are organised by Charity Finance, the business publication for the voluntary sector, and this year they were sponsored by CAF (Charities Aid Foundation).
