£90,000 on offer for youth projects

Howard Lake | 20 February 2008 | News

The Youth Council for Northern Ireland has launched a small grants programme with a deadline for applications of 29th February. Grants up to £5,000 will be provided to organisations working directly with young people and to agencies run by adults that work with young people.
Each of three programmes will be given £30,000. The programmes are Equipment, Creativity and Healthy Living. The Council will only offer funding to organisations which have child protection policy and equal opportunities policy.
Applications for equipment will have to demonstrate a positive contribution to the operation of the headquarters organisation, or its affiliated units, or projects involving the young people with whom they work.
Creativity will use the definition contained in the “Unlocking Creativity” document. The Healthy Living programme is designed to develop the role of youth work in the promotion of healthy living for young people in Northern Ireland.
The Youth Council will prioritise applications from individual organisations which work with young people that can be defined as falling within one or more of the Section 75 categories under the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
